Stippling Print E-mail
Stippling is a technique whereby paint is applied in little dabs instead of actual brushstrokes. The impressionists painted this way and sometimes straight from the tube, unmixed. The only mixing is when white or a paler tone is needed. For darker color hues that would normally by mixed on the palette are applied to the canvas individually in a layer upon layer of dots, line or blotches until the depth of color is achieved. Another way to achieve a bright contrast is to look at the color wheel and add the opposite color next to the color you just laid down.
