Start your palette

Use a modest selection of color. The colors are cadmium red, alizarin crimson, cadmium yellow, yellow ochre, cobalt blue, Prussian blue, viridian green, burnt umber and Payne’s grey. With those choices of color I would suggest you always have on your palette ivory black. If you are doing a landscape you might want to add more greens, but remember you can always use you color palette and make your own greens.
